GLOBAL MANUFACTURING INNOVATION SUMMIT 2015

 Tianjin, China, Nov. 19-21, 2015

With disruptive forces of change so pervasive around the world, manufacturing economy is undergoing significant transformation. While overall manufacturing continue to grow and accounts for approximately 16 percent of global GDP and 14 percent of employment, but the manufacturing sector is changing very significantly—bringing both opportunities and challenges forcing business leaders and policy makers to not rely on old responses to deal with the new manufacturing environment.

Major transformation in manufacturing sector is led by disruptive innovation in the areas of technology, product development, manufacturing processes, automation, and business models.

Manufacturing and Service sectors are converging. In the United States, every dollar of manufacturing output requires 19 cents of services. And in some manufacturing industries, more than half of all employees work in service roles, such as R&D engineers, business process innovation and building ecosystem partnership.

This new era of manufacturing is driving the need for more agile, transparent and demand-driven supply chains and integrated business planning models

Manufacturing industry will need to make bigger bets on research and development (R&D), with broader, more inclusive innovation models and tech savvy partners to help them capitalize on breakthrough innovation opportunities. Manufacturing will need to invest in employees building new skills and talent

This Summit overall focus is on manufacturers to better understand their competitive position and prepare their organizations for long-term growth and competitive advantage
